At some point in their life every man and woman will eventually find out exactly what it is like to go through the normal process of aging. It is true that there are some people that are lucky enough to age gracefully, but there are also many others that are not nearly as lucky. A lot of these people wind up dealing with fine lines around the mouth and wrinkles on the forehead and other areas of the face. There are also several other signs of aging that numerous men and women begin to notice as they begin to grow older. A few of these include age spots, dry and sagging skin, crow’s feet at the outer edges of the eyes, dark and puffy bags under the eyes, and various others.
Although the signs of aging commonly appear as we climb the ladder of age, there are also several other causes that lead to the appearance of skin that looks older than it actually is. When skin begins to wrinkle for example, it’s not always a symptom of age. This is a problem that can be caused from disease, an excessive amount of exposure to the sun, toxins from the environment, and even an inadequate diet.
A poor lifestyle is something that can have dramatic effects on a person’s appearance. When a person has smoked cigarettes for many years, a biochemical change often occurs. This type of change is so harmful that it will actually speed up the process that causes skin to age. A lot of smokers will also have a yellowish tint to their skin, which is especially true in those that smoke heavily. When the skin of a young smoker is looked at through a microscope, you will already be able to see wrinkles on the face beginning to form.
People that continuously eat junk food and unhealthy meals are also more likely to notice changes in their skin much sooner than would otherwise normally occur. When the body and skin does not receive essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that is needed to maintain optimum health, wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging are often the result.
Gravity is another factor that plays into some of the problems that men and women suffer with wrinkles and sagging skin. This may not be noticeable at all during the younger years, but the elasticity in the skin decreases as a person grows older and the pull of gravity becomes much more evident. A few of the affects that some people begin to notice in their appearance is the skin of the eyelids will begin to sag, the mouth may begin to droop, and the skin under the chin will begin to hang.
Even though there isn’t much we can do about growing older, there are quite a few steps we can take to avoid a lot of the signs of aging. You would be surprised at just how helpful it can be to live a healthy lifestyle, exercise on a regular basis, eat healthy, and take care of the skin properly.
